We let the worms paint.
They went all over the place.
With the paint.
You see it?

They even left their dirt behind.
It was kind of gross.

But they made a nice picture.
I love it.
It makes me happy.
I love worms.
And blue.
And paint.
And school.
And friends.
And worms.
And dirt.

Worms in the Pot

We put worms in a pot.

Then we put dirt.

Then seeds.

Like peas.

They look like food.

Then more dirt.

Then water.

Then we put it in the window.

The worms are going put poop in the dirt.
It will make the dirt good for the peas.
The food plants.
Did you know poop is good for dirt?
Worm poop is!

Ramp

Erik and Alex built a ramp. They used different sized and shaped blocks to make the ramp. Then they put the ramp to use. They used a mail truck to go down the hill. They found out what happens when the mail truck goes too fast.

Science and Senses

These scientist are checking out so many different things in science today. 
They are using some of their senses to learn more about the materials.

They are using their eye sight with the magnifying glass to take a closer look at the different materials.
They are using their ears to hear the different animal sounds produced by the animal sound blocks.
They are using their hands to touch and discover and guess what things are in the feely box.
They are using their nose to smell the different things in the natural collection of leaves and rocks.
They did not use their mouth to taste any of the materials in science. They will save their sense of taste for lunch.

Cold

The ice is cold.
Hands so cold.
It is cold.
It melted in hands.
It was cold.
Then water.
It is cold, too.

Mixing colors

We mixed the colors.
The water was different colors.
And then we used the shot things to mix it.
You know, like you're getting a shot at the doctor.
I made purple.
I made green.
I made pink.
I made yellow too, it was lighter yellow than the other yellow.
I used the shot dropper to move the water.
At the end all the water was green.
I don't know why.
All of the cups.
They were all green.
No other color, just green.

Farm Puzzle

Erik put this puzzle together. Erik is really good at working with puzzles, even when they aren't a traditional puzzle with a square or rectangle outline. He uses viusal cues to help him put all the puzzles together, which is going to help him a lot in Kindergarten and First Grade.

He really likes puzzles, and gets excited when we get a new puzzle out in our class.

After he put the puzzle together, he and I talked about the different animals. He would tell me the name in Spanish, and I would tell him in English. Except for dog, cat, and bird. He knew those all in English already.

Puzzles

Alex and Erik put these puzzles together.
Four different puzzles.
The hard thing about these puzzles is they all live in the same container.
They had to sort the different puzzle pieces to finish the puzzles.
They could sort them two different ways.
There are shapes on the back of each piece, or you can sort based on colors.
They sorted based on the colors of the puzzle pieces.

Work

Erik didn't come to school last week. 

We missed him.

Today when he came back, he worked really hard in Blocks center.

He made a jungle forest.

He put wild things in the forest.

Then he worked in Reading, where he put on a puppet show for Eduardo.


Erik worked very hard all day today.
We are glad he came back to school!

Numbers

Eduardo and Eric worked to match the dots on the frog to the dots in the pond. Then they turned the frogs over and matched the numbers on the lilly pads with the numbers on the frogs.
Jarod came over to inspect their work.

New Year, New Friends

Today was our first day with all our new friends at school.
This week, we had four days of staggared start, only having a few friends each day, until today.
On Monday, we met Josiah, Jarod, and Christian.
On Tuesday, we met Barbara, Jazmin, and Laisha.
On Wednesday, we met Alex, Eduardo, and Erik.
On Thursday, we met Leah and Jayden.
Each day, we learned about our school day, learned about how our classroom worked, and spent a lot of time getting to know each other.

Today, we all were here. All eleven friends and two teachers.
We all worked in centers.

We all learned about group time.

We all learned about our friends Suzy Circle, Rosie Red, and Barbara Blue. We all met "Baby" Gregory (He isn't really a baby any more). We said "Hello" to all of them. We learned that we are all in Pre-K, but one day we are going to go to college. We learned about the calendar. We figured out what the weather was. We learned new songs and dances. We tossed the ball and tried to remember our friends' names.

We learned about fire drills, and practiced a fire drill.
We went outside. We learned about our playground rules.
We read about little Llama. He went to school, too. He missed his Mama.
We had lunch.
We washed our hands, a lot.
We took a rest.
We had a great day!
